This one was really fun to play. The vibes of the game are so relaxing almost like a game you'd play on Wii Sports Resort or WiiFit. It was also a fun twist on the fishing genre with the game playing out more like a claw machine game than a fishing game. One thing I would say though was that it was difficult to actually pinpoint where to place the hook for the fish to connect, but that could also just be that I'm terrible at games lol.
Light hearted and relaxing. I would say having no scope is a good call here, as it will be both uncentered, and taking away the game's fundamental playloop, which includes learning where the hook would land. However the slow retraction speed when missing a fish felt seriously punishing, especially given that this is supposed to be a relaxing game I suppose. IMO making the line retraction much faster would definitely reduce the frustration for the sake of this game's relaxing tune.
I really loved the feeling of this game and it was really relaxing to play! I also applaud the visual design and liked that you included obstacles. The only critiques I have is the perspective the player has. It was hard to determine how close the hook was to the fish and I wound up thinking it was farther than it actually was. Other than that, I have no other critiques
I really like the vibe of this game. It is really a chill game so even I cannot get any fish for my first couple of round, I won't feel frustrated, and I will just keep letting the hook dive down and try to catch one fish. It is also really awarding seeing the fish getting dragged all the way up from the bottom. One suggestion is that maybe you can lower the hook a little bit a last when the player is trying to get the fish, because the perspective is really misleading and it is a little bit too hard to predict where the fish really is. Overall it is a fun fishing game and a creative approach for this week's game. Good job!
Hey Philip! This is super chill and I love the vibe! The assets look great and it's really fun to play. In terms of feedback I will echo what gen said about maybe increasing the speed of the return of the hook? Maybe the speed is deliberate and it's the consequence of missing the fish? That and maybe increasing the speed just a tad on the movement. Overall Great Job!!
Really cool game, its like binding a GoPro on a fish hook and diving down. I am glad you chose to not make the fish move, because it would have impossible for me to hook them! I just wish the hook ascended faster after I failed, so the wait is less painful. It is easy to dodge the seaweed but hard to land the final hook on the fish; I think it is because the fish is too thin from a top down view. Maybe you can add fishes or objects with other shapes so the experience doesn' suddenly shift from easy to hard every run.
Hey Philip! This was really chill and all of the assets you used really fit the vibe you were going for. I thought this was an interesting take on the prompt and I liked the mechanic. My only critique is that I wish that there was a way to start fishing again faster or at least skip the reeling up phase when you miss a fish since I was really bad at aiming for the first few times. Maybe even having a little reticle showing where the hook will descend to might help a bit with aiming, but either way this was a really nice game!
